Things Seen on TV

I can't resist the TV ads for gadgets and gizmos and Things that do all sorts of Things. Problem is, some of them don't exactly do the Things they promise. So today I picked five of my favorite As Seen on TV Things - four that work and one that never will.

#1: The Pocket Chair. Okay, so this isn't the most comfortable seat in the house, but it works in a pinch. And you don't have to sling it over your back like one of those canvas stadium chairs. It's a good Thing to keep with you for those times when you find yourself on your feet for waaaaaaaaaaaaay too long. Since it fits in your pocket, it goes everywhere.

#2: The Snap-It Eyeglass Repair Kit. This Thing isn't very exciting, but believe me, when you break the hinge on your glasses, you'll be glad you have it with you. I've used it twice. A sure sign I need new glasses, yes. But until I get off my duff and get to the eye doctor, this little kit keeps me from stumbling around blind!

#3: Easy Moves. These Things are awesome! You get a furniture lifter to help you get the slides under the Things you need to move and the slides. I got a set for my friend who owns a bar. They have to move the pool tables when they have a concert, so I thought it would be a great testing ground. And they worked! She can actually move a pool table by herself now!

#4: Grill Daddy. It's the easiest way to clean your grill. It gets into corners and crannies other brushes don't and you don't have to use any chemicals. I'll never be without one of these Things again!

#5: Boobie Fishing Lure: Now who thought of this Thing? Someone who thinks fish have a Thing for human boobies, I guess. I can tell you from experience, they don't. I baited these boobies with my irresistible, fool proof secret bait and I didn't catch one thing. But then again, as my fishing buddies are so quick to point out, my secret bait is neither irresistible nor fool proof. I suppose it's true. I go fishing a lot. But catching? Not so much.

See you next week,
Bobby
